Frequently asked questions
The free CAT mocks, the CAT pass and the refund. If you can't find what you need, email us.
The mocks
10 full mocks, free with an account. Each is a complete paper of 68 questions across VARC, DILR and QA. A free account also gets 1 sectional test per section. No card is needed.
Yes. VARC 24, DILR 22, QA 22 questions, 40 minutes per section, in the paper's order. A correct answer gets +3. A wrong multiple-choice answer gets -1. A wrong type-in answer gets 0. Each multiple-choice question has 4 options. The console copies the real one: the question palette, Mark for Review, Save & Next and the on-screen calculator.
On a free or live mock, you are ranked against everyone who took that paper. If you are rank r of N takers, your percentile is ((N − r) ÷ N) × 100, to two decimals, and tied scores share the better rank. We always show the rank and the number of takers. Nothing is estimated, blended or smoothed. On a free mock, each person's first attempt counts, and the percentile updates as more people take it. A live mock ranks everyone who sat it that weekend, and its results are fixed on Monday. A past live paper is marked against that weekend's takers and is not ranked. A mock you build yourself is ranked against every full-length sitting on the site, or against that section's scores for a sectional.
Pass holders get one new paper each weekend. It runs under the real exam's rules: no leaving a section early, and the next section starts when the 40 minutes are up. It opens Saturday 6:00 AM IST and closes Sunday 11:59 PM IST. Everyone who takes it in the window is ranked together, and the results are fixed at 6:00 AM IST on Monday.
Yes, all of them. Every question has to pass the same hardness check before it goes into a paper. The method page explains how each question is written and checked.
Yes. It runs in your browser. On a phone the console keeps the same controls, with the question palette behind a tab.
Solutions and help
Yes. After you submit, you see your marks, percentile and rank, the answer key and a written solution for every question.
After you submit, each solution offers a hint, another way to solve it, why the wrong options fail, and a box to ask a doubt. Nothing is offered during a timed test. A free account gets 3 a day. With the pass there is a fair-use limit only.
The CAT pass
A free account includes the 10 full mocks in the real exam console, 1 sectional per section, your marks, percentile, rank and every solution for what you sit, 1 sample lesson per section and 3 AI explanations a day. No card.
The CAT pass is one payment of ₹999 for one CAT season. It is valid until the end of that CAT's exam day, 11:59 PM IST, and it does not renew. It adds the live weekend mocks, past live papers, every sectional and build-your-own mocks, topic-wise analysis, the study plan, practice drills and every lesson. ₹999 is the one price.
Students and alumni with a verified IIT or BITS Pilani email address can claim the pass free, once per address and once per account, for the season in which they claim it. Online-degree addresses are excluded. Sign in with your institute email and verify it to claim it.
If the overall percentile on your official CAT scorecard is 99.5 or above, we refund 100% of the amount you paid for that CAT's pass. From 99 up to 99.5, we refund 50%. Below 99, there is no refund. The refund is for paid passes only. A pass claimed free with an IIT or BITS address, or granted by us, has nothing to refund. Claims open on the day the CAT result is published and close 30 days later, at 11:59 PM IST. The claim is for the pass of that CAT. Each account can make one refund claim, ever, whatever its outcome. A claim we send back for a clearer upload is the same claim, and the new upload is due within 14 days of our request. Each scorecard, and each candidate, can be claimed once per CAT year. You upload the official scorecard from Settings, with its registration number. The name and email on the scorecard must match the name and email you bought the pass with, and your email must be verified. A payment that is under a dispute or chargeback with your bank, or that the bank has returned to you, cannot be claimed. A refund is paid to the original payment method. A payment older than our payment provider allows to be refunded that way (180 days) is paid back by UPI, to an ID you give us in Settings. Your access is not withdrawn when a refund is paid. We decide each claim within 7 days of receiving it, and you may, if you choose, let us feature your name and percentile. The rules in full are on the terms page, under refunds.
